Under Construction

Here it is, part 2 of our Transportation Series: Under Construction. Build your toddler's knowledge with these fun and simple activities.

This lesson plan will help you truck through the week as your toddler explores construction vehicles. We've included flashcards, worksheets, and art activities. The activities we recommend are easy to put together with supplies you most likely have around your home. Any book, song, or movie recommendation for this week can be found on YouTube for FREE.

This is a pair of our flashcards. We printed 2 sets and gave each of our girls a set to identify and color. When they were done we played several games using them. I'll make another post going into detail about the many ways you can use flashcards.

This is a DIY puzzle that we've included in our worksheets. I let my oldest cut her own out so she could practice using her fine motor skills. If your toddler is having a hard time with the puzzles you can tell them to use the numbers on the bottom as a guide or print out a second page for them to match the pieces to.

Here's my oldest Building and Bulldozing with boxes. My oldest really enjoyed this activity while my youngest just wanted to play in the boxes. We saved all our boxes so we could have more than enough for both of them to play together or independently. I get a lot of pushback from my youngest so I try to keep things short and sweet. The less I talk and let her explore, the more engaged she is with our Toddlerschool activities. How do you handle pushback from your toddler(s)?

We called this activity Name Cones. I offered the girls a black paper and white paint and told them to make a road after talking about what the road looks like. Then we talked a little bit about safety cones before we added cones onto their painting.

As we've mentioned before, this is part of our Transportation Series, so be on the lookout for 1 more lesson plan within the coming weeks. Don't forget to bulldoze your way over to our Pinterest Page where you can find more Under Construction activities to do with your toddler, including snack time ideas. Please share with us how your Toddlerschool journey is going by commenting below, tagging us on social media, or sending us an email. We appreciate you being here and can't wait to see how you've implemented these activities in your home. However you go through the lesson plan, make sure you have fun with it.

See you later, excavator!
