Honor our Heroes

We all love super heroes; they protect us from the bad guys. Most of the super heroes we heard of have special powers and try to keep their identities hidden. Did you know we have heroes hiding in our own neighborhoods? Yup, it's true. You may not know because they aren't always dressed up but if you ask around they'll reveal their identities. I'm talking about our Veterans!

Veteran's Day is around the corner and I'm super excited for our Toddlerschool activities. We have 2 events coming up that we would love for you to attend.

On November 1, 2023 starting at 9am, we will be having a Toddlerschool Pop-up at Kokololio Beach Park. This is our 3 Pop-up event that we've had the privilege of hosting thanks to Northshore Playgroup. At this event we will make thank you cards for you to take home and share with your special veteran. We will also be making thank you signs to use at our Veteran's Day Parade.

We will be having a Veteran's Day Parade bright and early at 7am on November 10, 2023. We will parade on Malaekahana Bike Path which is about 2.5 miles, so come prepared with sunscreen, water, snacks, and your stroller/wagon. For more details check out our flyer and/or read more about it on our events page.

Here's a photo from 2 years ago when we did our very first Veteran's Day Parade in Kailua. We had a small group but these keiki had a big impact on the community. We recieved so much love and support, so we're thrilled to start this tradition in our very own community. We hope you can join us.

As if that wasn't enough fun, we also have a new lesson plan entitled Honor our Heroes. This lesson plan includes 5 days of curriculum and 8 worksheets for you and your keiki to learn about Veteran's Day. When I first tried this theme with my oldest she was 2 and a half. It was very challenging for her, so we just focused on saying the words, "Thank you Veterans!" Our activities were centered around patriotism by incorporating our Country's colors- red, white, and blue.

I try to add challenging activities for your pre-k keiki as well as alternatives for you to do with younger keiki. If your child has a hard time or not enjoying a particular activity you can skip it or replace it with another activity. If you want recommendations for other activities you can reach out to me or you can check out our Pinterest page. Thank you for following along on our Toddlerschool journey. We'd love to hear from you; share with us how your Toddlerschool journey is going by commenting below, tagging us on Instagram or Facebook, or by sending us an email. We appreciate you being here and can't wait to see how you've implemented these activities in your home. However you go through the lesson plan, make sure you have fun with it!
