In Case of Emergency

Sound the alarm we're finishing up our transportation series with emergency vehicles. In Case of Emergency is packed with activities that'll get your toddler fired up about learning. This week long lesson plan goes over emergency vehicles and the important jobs that come with them (The Rescue Team as my girls call them). Included with the lesson plan are flashcards, and 9 worksheets (3 of which are not mentioned on the lesson plan). Feel free to add, trash, or switch out the extra worksheets in your lesson plan. I made them to go over fire safety with my girls. Although I didn't include fire safety in the plan I wanted to share these with you in case you also wanted to talk about it with your little ones.

Rescue Team Footprint. This was fun to make together. After tracing and stamping her foot, my oldest was very upset that I was "messing up" her project; until she started to see the outcome. My youngest didn't want to make emergency vehicles, she wanted to make race cars and we let her since they're technically in the theme.

Here's my oldest using her fine motor skills to cut out her flashcards. I demonstrated how to use the scissors before allowing her to have a turn. She felt more comfortable cutting upside-down; we'll correct her form later, right now we're focusing on building confidence to try new things.

FIRE! FIRE! We took turns drawing fire on the driveway and putting it out with the water hose. The girls loved this activity so much, we did it again and again until we ran out of space on the driveway to draw. This is a photo of my youngest having a turn being a fire fighter.

If you have Disney+, we recently discovered a series called "Firebuds." We enjoyed watching through a few episodes. This show really highlights the importance of teamwork and helping your community. If you don't like one or more of the video suggestions on the lesson plan then you should check this out.

We hope these activities aid you in your Toddlerschool journey. Police head over to our Pinterest page where you'll find more activities to add to your Toddlerschool, including snack time. We'd love to hear from you; share with us how your Toddlerschool journey is going by commenting below or sending us an email. We appreciate you being here and can't wait to see how you've implemented these activities in your home. However you go through the lesson plan, make sure you have fun with it!
